The World Museum Bug Photography Competition is back! Here’s Laura Carter, our Bug House keeper, with the details…

“We’re excited to announce that our bug photography competition is relaunching! You might already have a favourite shot you’ve taken over the summer, but it’s not too late in the year to still get some nice shots of our six, eight and many-legged friends.

“Autumn can be a really good time to see spiders, and on these foggy or frosty mornings the webs alone can be a beautiful sight.”

“This year, we have three categories: 10 years and under; 11 – 18 years and over 18s.  The first prize winners in each category will win a bug identification guide, a certificate and a behind the scenes tour of the Bug House. A runner up in each category with also win a behind the scenes tour of the Bug House and a certificate.

“The closing date for entries is midnight on Friday 16 December 2013 and we will notify winners by 31 January 2014.

“It’s really easy to enter, simply follow this link to upload your image online. Be sure to read the full terms and conditions too, and note that images must be your own copyright.

“Looking forward to seeing your shots! We’ll be sharing them on a large screen here in the Bug House too. Good luck!”
