No, it’s not Santa coming early with his sleigh and reindeer – it’s the sound of Christmas shoppers starting to descend on the city!

But there’s no need to panic and get carried along with the crowd to all the ‘usual shops’ – let us help you to find something a little bit different.

You can either browse in one of the shops at our museums or galleries, or put your feet up at home and check out our online shop instead.

Remember to order from our online shop by 18 December to make sure you get your goodies in time for Christmas!

It’s official, the most wonderful time of the year has arrived! The city centre has been decorated and the christmas CDs have been dusted off and are entertaining the christmas shoppers.

The festive season is an important time for retail and it takes alot of planning  to get our museum gift shops ready. Thankfully we don’t have to put together an advertising campaign that tugs at the heart strings of the nation but we still have to start preparing a year in advance. Read more…

This month we are getting inspired by the glamour and beauty of the April Ashley exhibition at Museum of Liverpool. The former Vogue model and actress has a unique sense of style and was one of the first people in the world to undergo pioneering gender reassignment surgery.

Her love of vibrant accessories has lead us to stock up on colourful cocktail rings and sparkling vintage-style pieces for the new exhibition range.

Everyone from independent fashion blogs to UK Vogue are getting excited about the rich reds and burgundies from the Autumn/Winter 2013 catwalk shows and we can see why. Read more…

So we’ve hit September and we’re still lucky enough to have that little bit of sunshine left to keep us going as the summer comes to an end. But I always find this is an awkward time for choosing what to wear – do you get out your knitwear (fluffy knits are having a moment right now) or do you tough it out in your t-shirt?

Over on the Guardian’s style pages they are suggesting summer scarves are the answer and I think we’d agree. Lucy from our media office has been road testing one of the cute new scarves that have arrived at our online shop HQ and she reckons they are an ‘in between season’ winner. Read more…
