Last month the eagerly anticipated Edo Pop exhibition launched at Lady Lever Art Gallery, bringing to life the energy and spirit of 19th century Edo (now Tokyo) through a collection of 50 woodblock prints.  Loaned from local collector Frank Milner, the vibrant and colourful prints were ‘mass produced’ by hand by leading printmakers such as Kuniyoshi, Kunisada and Kunichika, and were very sought after by fans of Edo’s popular culture. Can you hear a distant rumble and clatter in the background as you walk down the high street?

No, it’s not Santa coming early with his sleigh and reindeer – it’s the sound of Christmas shoppers starting to descend on the city!

But there’s no need to panic and get carried along with the crowd to all the ‘usual shops’ – let us help you to find something a little bit different.

You can either browse in one of the shops at our museums or galleries, or put your feet up at home and check out our online shop instead.

Remember to order from our online shop by 18 December to make sure you get your goodies in time for Christmas!

Port Sunlight Village 125th anniversary, celebrate with us at this weekends festival

We’ve been getting preparations underway here at Lady Lever Art Gallery cafe for this weekend’s Port Sunlight Festival. It’s a very significant anniversary this year as the village is 125 years young and there’s a whole host of traditional entertainment going on from vintage cars to Edwardian street theatre.
