To date, we have trained more than 5,000 carers across Merseyside, the North and Midlands, on our dementia awareness training days, which have been running since 2012.
This award recognises the work we have carried at other cultural venues in the North, and demonstrates the capabilities of museums and galleries in working with the health and social care sector to deliver an imaginative and accessible ‘whole community’ dementia awareness experience, based within a museum setting.
The annual awards created by The Museums + Heritage Show, celebrate excellence and innovation at museums, galleries and visitor attractions across the UK and Europe, and we’re honoured that House of Memories has been recognised as a unique and significant project within our sector.
We are so proud of the House of Memories project and all it has achieved so far. The Museums & Heritage award highlights the training we have taken to Salford Museum and Art Gallery, Bury Art Museum and Tyne and Wear Archives & Museums, showing that museums across the country can play an important role in helping people living with dementia.
