London Fashion Week or fashion on your doorstep?

London Fashion Week kicks off on 18 September 2015! I’ve been avidly scrolling through #LFW on Twitter and Instagram to get my fashion fix as I can’t be there in person.

If you can’t make it down to London either, then you can at least check out our fashion displays at the Walker Art Gallery and Sudley House.

1970s-inspired collections have been featured a lot in the last few months, with everyone from Elle magazine to Vogue raving about the return of lurex and faux fur coats.

So if ’70s fashion is your thing then head to the Walker Art Gallery and get up close to vintage fashion from the era, with our display from the Jean Varon label.

Full of bold prints, velvet and generous collars, these outfits were designed by John Bates – one of the most innovative and influential young British designers of the ’60s and ’70s.

There’s a lot on display that wouldn’t look out of place on the high street at the moment!

If Op-Art-inspired style and the ’90s revival are more up your street then ‘Drip Dry!’ at Sudley House would be worth a visit.

Celebrating everything man-made, this display stylishly looks at how synthetic fibres have revolutionised fashion as we know it.

So if you’re day-dreaming about the FROW (that’s the Front Row!) then get some fashion inspiration on your doorstep instead.

Vintage evening dresses, coming soon….

I also can’t wait to see ‘Putting on the Glitz’, an exhibition of vintage 1930s evening dresses and accessories, which opens at the Lady Lever Art Gallery on 16 October 2015. Make sure you put the date in your diary!
