It’s less than a month to go until Christmas day and we’re beginning to get more serious about our Christmas shopping lists to try and avoid any last minute buying. Thankfully, as Scousers we are always very proud of our city so great Liverpool-themed gifts are always a huge hit! Here’s our guide to the perfect Scouse gifts your friends and family will love to find under the tree this year…
Liverpudlians with a passion for Harry Potter will no doubt be aware that our city has played a part in the hugely successful film franchise, with cast and crew visiting Liverpool back in 2009 to film scenes for The Deathly Hallows Part 1 in our very own Queensway Tunnel. Fans of the wizarding world may also know that in early 2016, Warner Bros. I love organising what I’m going to give to my friends and family, and one of the first things I do is purchase my Christmas cards. Choosing cards for your friends and family can sometimes be difficult with so many styles and options. I always like to pick designs which I think they will personally like. There are plenty of cards available from National Museums Liverpool, so I make sure our Merchandising and Buying team point me in the right direction. Here is their guide to help you to choose something for each person.
We are really excited by the exhibition, Retail Assistant Merchandising Manager, Karen Taylor particularly. She studied Egyptology prior to joining the museum and used her insight and passion to select the gifts for visitors to the exhibition. Here are Karen’s top five picks.
Hannah McColgan, Retail Operations Manager blogs about the Museum of Liverpool’s very own toy story:
“Last week the Museum of Liverpool was thrilled to be awarded a Toymark Award for Good Practice 2016 by consumer action group Let Toys Be Toys, in recognition of how all toys and books in our shops are offered to both boys and girls regardless of the item’s gender stereotype.
